What Kind of Flower Are You?

http://www.thisgardenisillegal.com/flower-quiz

I was a sunflower! How fitting, being from Kansas and all!

You Are a Sunflower

New Work

On the artglasspics yahoo group, a challenge was issued to create a glass piece based on a picture of flowers. I chose the lilacs in my front yard, which were gorgeous this year and smelled so good. They've faded now but I have some pictures of them!

The piece is 5.25 x 3.125 inches. I plan on slumping it on my wavy mold. I'm not impressed with what I came up with. I added the dark purple shards and the yellow stringer to the leaves because I thought it looked plain. Now it just looks goofy.

Let me know what you think. Any suggestions of making it look better other than starting all over?

The Web is a Horrible, Dangerous Place

Because it makes me waste so much time!!!

It's bad enough I get email out my ears. I like (most) email. It's great to get ideas, hear from people, read jokes, watch funny movies.

Now I'm losing myself surfing.

I've been "researching" Etsy as a way to increase my (non-existent) sales. I used to just watch the home page with it's ever-changing post of new listings. But now I obsessed with the Etsy treasury. What a dangerous place. Seriously, I have to keep looking at the ones that grab my attention with their wild titles. What do they mean? What will they feature?

I also get my news from Yahoo. Who needs a newspaper or television when you can get updated news constantly on the computer. Except I am no longer satisfied with just the news. I need to read the comments from readers. I wasted about an hour this week reading the 200+ comments on a small article about Jessica Simpson using a designated driver after imbibing margaritas. Was that her mother or not? Does she or doesn't look old? Is she or isn't she talented? These people posting were a hoot!

And now I'm writing in my blog! Will it never end? I think I'll got play in The Studio...

Beetle Bits

I am so happy I got the Beetle Bits cutting system! Why did I wait so long?! I played this morning and cut identically-sized squares and triangles! It's a miracle! Now to figure out diamonds!

If you use this system and have tips to share, please post them!

New Venture and Random Thoughts

I got a wonderful new camera for Mother's Day and my birthday this year. The pictures I've been taking are so spectacular that I've posted some for sale on Etsy. Check out my site. I'll be gradually posting more photos because that's what the Etsy gurus recommend to keep your site in people's mind!

Latest Work:

I made some beads that look like turquoise. These are very cool in person. I'm not that excited about the necklace. I think I'll be re-working that. The ring is nice...but I need to perfect it!

Random Thoughts:

Do you really give a hoot of Angelina and Brad get married? Frankly, I thought they already were married. They have kids together, no? If I could do without hearing about famous people these two are tops right now--especially since Paris Hilton seems to have drifted out of the lime light. I'm not complaining, because she was tops on my list for eons!

Did you read that Jennifer Aniston and John Mayer hooked up? I say, go for it Jen! woohoo!! I don't know why their purported romance thrills me, but it does!

If you have kids in sports you probably have experienced the negativity that can occur on the court/field/team. Amazingly, its rarely drama created by the kids, but by adults! Nothing has happened to any of my kids lately, thank God. But a teammate of the twins has broken some shot put and discus records recently and actually gotten flack about it! Adult men (I single them out because my personal experience has been with the male of the species!) need to take a step back and ask themselves why the success of a teenage athlete threatens them so. Can't you just be happy that they are good and leave it at that?

I'm slowly learning a whole new language since the twins because heavy weight track participants. No running here, they are shot put and discus throwers. Here are a few of the terms I've learned: ring, scratch, flight, glide, PR (personal record), power throw. Sit with fellow parents long enough and you catch on! The throwing events are actually exciting. From the second they start throwing until the shot or discus lands, you want to hold your breath!

Remember when May would mean the end of meaningful television for several months? Now my favorite shows are coming on in the summer! Burn Notice, Monk, Psych. USA has the best shows.
