I've found a new passion. A little backstory here. Several years ago I was into rubber stamping and had visions of being a wonderful scrapbooker. But I hated the fact that I needed so much stuff to create scrapbook pages. Because I don't like simple pages. Once a graphic designer, always a graphic designer, I guess.
So I eased out of the scrapbooking arena, even though I have tons of equipment. I am an equipment/gadget junky. I took the Meyer-Briggs Personality Assessment and it told me I am a gadget junky, so I have embraced this part of me wholeheartedly. Why deny who I am to my very core?!
Alas, my scrapbooking equipment just sits here gathering dust. I woefully glance at it, but mostly I vacuum off the dust and hope that people in my household believe it's just an odd piece of furniture. Truth is, I hate dragging everything out and then having to pack it back up when I am done.
Recently, my paper arts addictions have been eclipsed by my love of glass. I love glass. I adore glass. I dream glass. However, winter has thwarted my glass creativty efforts! It is impossible to work on The Studio (aka the garage) when it is cold outside. The small portable heater
I have does nothing to dispel the cold. And I need electricity for the kiln, the oxygen concentrator, and the heater. And one outlet! So I stay inside and grow grumpier because I have nothing creative to do.
Then two days ago I discovered...digital scrapbooking! Seriously! It started with SmileBox, an on-line site that let's you place your pictures into their layout and then email them to people. Maybe you got my Christmas layout. Then I started looking for more.
I found the ArcSoft Scrapbook Creator software, You can download a trial version and try it out. So I whipped out a layout. Then I found online sites where you can buy elements to add to your digital scrapbooks. It's quite like shopping at Michael's or Joann's or Archiver's. Except you do it all from the warmth of your desk chair.
So, yes, I am addicted. I have done three layouts already. Christmas 2007, Ice Skating, and Aaron's Birthday. Take a look and see what I've done!
